Behavior Evaluation:
Jammer walks calmly on leash and was sociable toward the handler during the assessment - soft body, low wag. He was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He engages in play, mouth open, loose body, but was difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. Jammer was not interested in toys or rawhide and rushed in quickly during the dog-dog test, but showed no aggression.
Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor's cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth.
Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game.
Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body likely a bit stiff. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek.
Toy 1: No interest. Reassess at future date.
Rawhide: 1. No interest. Reassess at future date.
Dog-dog: 2. Dog rushes up to the helper dog, no aggression, body a bit tense, tail wags.

DO NOT call and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.
